(WHNT) – Will the courier be executed on Martin Luther King Jr. Day? The short answer: no.

Like all other federally recognized holidays, United States Postal Service (USPS) mail will not operate on the day honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Regular mail services will restart on Tuesday, January 18 .

Martin Luther King Jr. Day, sometimes referred to as MLK Day, recognizes the famous civil rights leader’s birthday. It is observed annually on the third Monday in January, although King’s actual birthday is January 15. It was first recognized as a federal holiday in 1986, but was not officially observed in all 50 states until 2000.
