UAE ends visa-free travel for Ukrainians as Russian invasion continues

The UAE has suspended visa-free travel for Ukrainians as the Russian invasion of Ukraine continues.

the ukrainian embassy in Abu Dhabi said that both the UAE and Ukraine have mutually agreed to cancel visa-free travel from March 1.

The UAE said it was a normal procedure during ‘unforeseen crises.’

There are estimated to be around 15,000 Ukrainians living in the UAE. But the UAE has said the latest development does not affect Ukrainian residents living in the UAE.

“Regarding citizens of Ukraine who arrived in the UAE for tourist purposes and were unable to return to Ukraine due to the beginning of the armed aggression of the Russian Federation, the Embassy will further inform.”

UAE donates $5 million in aid to help Ukrainian people

It’s just been announced that the UAE will provide aid relief worth $5 million to Ukrainian civilians affected by the Russian invasion.

The United Nations put out an urgent appeal for help and the UAE has quickly become involved.

“The UAE stresses the importance of focusing on the deteriorating humanitarian situation for civilians and ensuring their protection,” state news agency wow reported.

With temperatures dropping below zero and heavy snow forecast, the humanitarian situation is getting increasingly desperate.

Thousands of makeshift camps have been set up which will now benefit from the $5 million aid relief.
