A man was killed after two cars and a heavy vehicle collided near the intersection of Goulburn Rd with the Kings Highway, Mulloon. The incident happened at around 12:15 p.m. on Thursday. The Kings Highway east of Bungendore was closed to traffic for several hours with detours in place at Bungendore and Goulburn Road, but Queanbeyan Police reported the road was now open. The killed driver was a 51-year-old male and the sole occupant of a Mazda sedan. He died at the scene. Police believe the Mazda sedan was heading east when it struck a heavy vehicle in a westbound direction, then veered into the path of an Audi SUV, causing the two cars to collide head-on. The driver of the heavy vehicle was not injured, while the driver of the SUV – and his passenger in the front seat – sustained minor injuries. A child in the back seat was not injured. A report will be prepared for the coroner.
