The 20 Best True-Crime Documentaries on Hulu

Most of us know that Netflix’s vast library offers some of the greatest documentaries on real crime, with Crime scene: the disappearance at the Cecil hotel and King tiger among his most popular hits. Still, Netflix isn’t the only place you can get paranoid about life insurance policies – Hulu has jumped on this grisly wagon in recent years as well.

The streaming service’s foray into this genre is relatively new, but the originals it owns are just as well produced as Netflix’s crime documentaries. That is, you won’t run out of high-quality content, even if Netflix has been in the game for a bit longer. Hulu’s True Crime Collection highlights original critically acclaimed features such as Fraud to guys and Untouchable. These projects break down more recent stories, such as the Fyre Festival scandal and the horrific cases of Harvey Weinstein abuse, respectively.

It’s true that Hulu doesn’t have as many true crime originals as Netflix. But you won’t run out of gripping series about scams, mystery murders and everything in between on the streaming service. Beyond the original content, find shows from networks like Investigation Discovery and A&E, both known for their extensive coverage of true crime cases even before Netflix’s rebirth in the twisted genre.

Want to send it back? Hulu’s platform is also home to entire seasons of cult classics such as Unsolved mysteries and Forensic files (the first one, in fact, had a recent revival on Netflix that you should definitely check out). You can even watch the latest episodes of 20/20 on Hulu. This ABC show, now primarily focused on real-life crime stories, is famous for its in-depth interviews and exclusive high-profile murder case footage.
