St. Lawrence Market in Toronto officially extends its hours

After backlash over reduced hours, Toronto’s St. Lawrence Market is officially extending its hours.

Beginning July 31, the City of Toronto will launch a one-year pilot program that will extend the hours of operation of the current market.

The market is currently closed on Sundays and Mondays and closes at 5:00 pm Tuesday through Friday, leaving most people who work full-time with little opportunity to shop.

The hours of operation changed in January 2020, but have since returned to the original hours.

“It is very exciting that St. Lawrence Market is reopening for extended hours of operation,” Mayor John Tory said in a statement.

The new hours of operation will be from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm from Tuesday to Friday, from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm on Saturdays, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm on Sundays, with the market closed on mondays

The changes now make the St. Lawrence Market open one more day with later closing times during the business week.
