Sky News takes a closer look with the 2022 lineup

Along with Hildebrand’s The Blame Game – airs at 8:30 p.m. on Fridays – Sky News will also be adding a new prime-time program with Herald Sun columnist Rita Panahi at 9:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday. It will become a permanent Monday Night feature following the debut of the new Piers Morgan program later this year. The media personality, previously on Good Morning Britain, signed a major deal with News Corporation last year. The broadcaster is also planning a number of documentaries in 2022, including the hosted Peter Stefanovic MH370: The Final Search, which follows MH370: The Untold Story – the highest rated Sky News Australia documentary ever. Peta Credlin also returns with her second documentary, this time examining what happens during an election campaign ahead of the 2022 federal election. Sky News Australia chief executive Paul Whittaker, former editor of The Australian, said the he news agenda was already full. “We will provide viewers with unparalleled coverage of the federal election and the post-pandemic federal budget,” he said. “There will be an in-depth analysis of the health, social and economic implications of the new variants of Covid-19. And we have big events to look forward to, including the Winter Olympics and the Commonwealth Games, to name a few. Erin Molan will also join the broadcaster as a prime-time contributor after leaving the Nine Network late last year. Other changes to Sky News Australia’s programming include the introduction of a daily business program – Business Now with Ross Greenwood – at 4:30 p.m. Greenwood, the network’s business publisher, will continue to host Business Weekend at 11 a.m. on Sunday. Paul Murray, one of the broadcaster’s top-rated presenters, will switch to an earlier 8pm Sunday through Thursday slot and host a series of “publicity tests” throughout the campaign trail. The home page, looking at the next day’s newspapers, will also switch to an earlier timeslot of 10:30 p.m. daily.
