There are 21 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in the Northern Territory, of which only five are receiving “acute hospital care”.

One person is in intensive care and is said to be on a ventilator.

Health Minister Natasha Fyles said the increase in cases is worrying but public health measures will not be changed yet.

“It is of concern to Territorial communities that community transmission is increasing,” said Ms. Fyles.

“Our goal is not to stop this virus, it is to ensure that we do not overload our health care system.

“It will become rampant at some point.”
