Many disapproved of the Brooklyn Nets’ decision to have Kyrie Irving as a part-time player, but he proved them wrong. The Nets took a win over the Indiana Pacers last night, and Kyrie played a big part in their victory.
After missing almost the first half of the 2021-22 NBA season, Nets owner Joe Tsai has chosen to bring Kyrie back into the fold despite refusing to get the shot. Ahead of the start of the season, the Nets said they would never accept Kyrie as a part-time player, but apparently changed their position as the season progressed.
After his dominant display on his debut in the season, pundits have given their thoughts on his comeback, with many only having positive remarks. Shannon Sharpe, on “Skip and Shannon: Undisputed”, couldn’t contain her excitement with Kyrie Irving’s performance. In the show’s last episode, when asked how impressive Irving was on a scale of 1 to 10:
“I gave it a 10 because there aren’t a lot of guys who can get up off their couch in a pro sport and say, you know what? ‘I think I’m ready to go back and do it. that ‘and doing what this man did. Kyrie just warned everyone last night, he did it after being on his couch for 4 months? Shit! “
However, Kyrie failed to convert both of her three-point shooting attempts resulting in 0% shooting efficiency beyond the arc overnight. Sharpe went on to expand on this earlier in the series, stating that he was convinced Kyrie would regain his touch of ranged fire.
“That outside shot is going to come back. The midrange, he had the 12-footer. His three-point ball was a bit short, the 18-footer, he didn’t have that last night.” Sharpe added.
Sharpe went on to list some of the possible factors that caused the Nets to change their mind about Kyrie Irving’s return as a part-time player, including rival teams looking better and better and internal outbreaks of COVID. -19 in the Nets, adding:
They said, ‘Look here, you know what? We’ll take a part-time player, because this guy is so good, he’s so special, and he’s shown you all along the last row, he’s special. “
As it stands, Kyrie will only play road games for the Nets as New York City has a mandate banning him from playing at home due to his vaccine status. It will require frequent styling changes, but players and coaching staff are ready to make it work.
Irving’s performance last night gave the Nets a positive first indication that they had made the right decision. Few players could come back as beautiful as Kyrie Irving after missing so much time on the pitch. While not a resounding victory, he helped the Nets quell the pair at the warm hands of Domantas Sabonis and Lance Stephenson.
Kyrie Irving started her 2021-22 NBA season on a high note
Kyrie had a tough first quarter, going 0 of 3 on the pitch, but turned things around early in the second. He finished the game with 22 points, three rebounds, four assists and three steals while shooting 52.9 percent from the field.

One would imagine that Brooklyn fans would be excited about their team’s prospects of going all the way this year.
