Home Depot Foundation Donates $ 1 Million to Civil Rights Center

The Home Depot Foundation has announced that it will donate $ 1 million to the Atlanta-based National Center for Civil and Human Rights, which plans to use the donation to expand its museum and increase community education and training.

The foundation, created by the Georgia-based retailer, said in an announcement that the donation was in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. ahead of the national holiday marking his birthday.

Opened in 2014, the non-profit center connects the history of the American civil rights movement with current human rights challenges. He’s planning activities starting Friday to mark the MLK holiday.

The Home Depot Foundation has been involved with the center since its inception, said Jill Savitt, the centre’s chief executive.
