Dubai quad driver arrested after video of his accident went viral

A 21-year-old quad bike driver who performed stunts on a main road in Bur Dubai has been arrested after a video went viral.

The ATV driver was doing stunts when his bike flipped over and he was injured. He later ran away from the scene but was later found by Dubai police.

“He was driving without a license [quad] bicycle and did not have a driver’s license. He was endangering his own life and the lives of other road users,” Col. Rashid Al Shehi, Acting Director of the Bur Dubai Police Station, said in a statement.

The driver of the ATV has now been referred to the Dubai Public Prosecution for driving a vehicle in a manner that endangers the lives of others, driving an ATV without a license, driving without a valid driver’s license and fleeing the scene of an accident.

“Such behavior is not acceptable as it endangers the lives of other road users and violates traffic laws and regulations,” said Colonel Al Shehi.

“Young people should avoid negative behaviors and commit offenses like dangerous stunts just to show off,” he added.
