PHILADELPHIA (CBS/CNN) — Discovery Channel’s upcoming “Shark Week” is going to have some extra oomph. Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will host “Shark Week” this year and has the honor of being the first Master of Ceremonies.
“Our Seven Bucks Productions has partnered with Discovery to bring you a very special (and cool) Shark Week. Filmed exclusively in my home state of Hawaii, these beautiful predators, Aumakua (gods), are deeply revered and respected in our Polynesian culture,” Johnson wrote on Instagram.

Tracy Morgan will also appear, along with the cast of “Jackass.”
Discovery is also premiering a series of new specials that will be available on the Discovery Channel and on Discovery+.
Shark Week begins on Sunday, July 24.

July 15, “Dawn of the Mako Monster”
