NEW SMYRNA BEACH, FL – A man from DeLand has been charged with 29 counts of possession of a child sexual performance after a cyber tip led Volusia sheriff’s detectives to locate several videos and images from her phone and laptop showing child sexual abuse. Authorities said Robert Sierra, 33, from Chelsea Manor Circle in DeLand was arrested on warrant Monday in New Smyrna Beach.
The investigation began in September when the sheriff’s office received a clue from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that 47 files of suspected child pornography had been uploaded. After identifying Sierra as the owner, detectives obtained search warrants to obtain further evidence.
Sheriff’s detectives executed a residential search warrant on December 15, questioning Sierra and seizing several electronic devices for a forensic examination. The investigation shows that the videos uploaded show children estimated to be only four years old in situations of sexual exploitation.
Sierra remains being held in the Volusia County branch jail on $ 290,000 bond pending an initial court appearance.
