Ben White says Takehiro Tomiyasu is the best right-back he’s ever played with and says his Arsenal teammate “does simple things at a world-class level”.

The Japan international has joined Mikel Arteta’s side in a £ 15.5million deal with Bologna in the summer transfer window.

Tomiyasu impressed in his first months at Arsenal and has already cemented his place as a top choice right-back from Arteta.

And White praised the impact his Arsenal teammate has had in the Premier League.

‘Tomi is amazing. He’s the best right-back I’ve ever played with. He’s always focused. It’s an honor to play alongside him, ”White told DAZN Japan.

“Tomi does it simple at a world class level. He is very alert and he is not sloppy in games.

“Right from the start he understands English perfectly and speaks as well as I do.”

White also decided to downplay accusations he ignored Tomiyasu on the pitch. after clips of him choosing not to switch to his teammate circulated among Arsenal fans on social media.

“I read the article about not switching to Tomi,” White said.

“If you are unfamiliar with football you might not understand it, but opponents target right-back passes when they press.

“If I play the ball to Tomi he will be targeted and he could be in a situation where he has no options.

“It’s not that I don’t want to pass to Tomi, but it’s the best way to develop our game to lead to the final third.”
