Apple Accumulates SAG Nominations For “Ted Lasso”, “CODA” And More

Awards season is in full swing and Apple TV + has garnered an impressive twelve Screen Actors Guild nominations for its original films and series.

Unsurprisingly, Apple TV + ‘s hit “Ted Lasso” received five nominations, including:

  • Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series – Brett Goldstein
  • Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series – Jason Sudeikis
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series – Juno Temple
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Comedy Series – Hannah Waddingham
  • Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Comedy Series

However, it wasn’t the only series from Apple to gain attention. “The Morning Show,” one of the streaming service’s first available titles, won four nominations, as follows:

  • Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Drama Series – Billy Crudup
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series – Jennifer Aniston
  • Outstanding Performance by an Actress in a Drama Series – Reese Witherspoon
  • Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series

Apple Films also landed three nominations. The first goes to Denzel Washington for the outstanding performance by a male actor in a lead role in “The Tragedy of MacBeth”.

The second goes to Troy Kotsur for the outstanding performance of a male actor in a supporting role in “CODA”. The film also won a nomination for Best Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture.

This year’s ceremony will be held in person at the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica on Sunday, February 27. The show will also be broadcast live on TNT and TBS. Like Too Fab underlines, there is no word yet on who is hosting.

Apple TV + films “The Tragedy of Macbeth” and “CODA” and series “Ted Lasso” and “Schmigadoon!” Were selected as recipients of the AFI Awards in 2021.

Jason Sudeikis was named Best TV Actor in a Musical or Comedy at the 2022 Golden Globes, for his performance in Apple TV + hit “Ted Lasso”.
