Center-left leader Anthony Albanese was sworn in as Australia’s new prime minister on Monday, hours before traveling to Tokyo for an international summit.

Albanese, who has signaled Australia’s willingness to work with the world on climate change, will take part in a four-way summit with the leaders of the United States, Japan and India on Tuesday.

The new prime minister, 59, was sworn in during a short ceremony.

Other members of his team who have assumed their positions include Secretary of State Penny Wong, who will join Albanese at the four-party summit, Budget Secretary Jim Chalmers and Finance Secretary Kitty Gallagher.

Albanese wants to take advantage of his first official trip abroad “so that the world knows that there is a change of government.”

“There will be some changes in policy, particularly regarding climate change and our engagement with the world on these issues,” he said in Sunday’s victory speech.
