Abu Dhabi Art opens Horizons: Emerging Artists at the Venice Biennale

Abu Dhabi Art opened the exhibition “Horizons: Emerging Artists” 2021 at the Palazzo Cavalli Francetti in Venice, Italy, which will remain there until May 22, coinciding with the activities of the 2022 Venice Biennale, for the first time in Italy.
The exhibition includes works commissioned by emerging artists: Christopher Joshua Benton, Maitha Abdullah and Hashel Al Lamki, during Abu Dhabi Art 2021 under the supervision of curators: Sam Bardawil and Till Fellrath, co-founders of the interdisciplinary art evaluation platform Art Re Oriented. .
The opening of the exhibition was attended by more than 400 people, led by Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi, Minister of Culture and Youth, Saud Al Hosani, Deputy Secretary of the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi, Omar Obaid Al Shamsi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Italy, and Salem Khalid Abdullah Al Qasimi, Undersecretary of the Assistant Ministry of the Heritage and Arts Sector, Permanent Representative of the United Arab Emirates to the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Culture (UNESCO) .
With the move of the exhibition from Abu Dhabi to Venice, the way in which the artists’ works were displayed was changed to fit the space of the Palazzo Cavalli Franchitti.
In the exhibition, the artist Christopher Joshua Benton presents works of art entitled “The year was my garden” in which installations, sculptures and video are fused.
For her part, the artist Maitha Abdullah presents an artistic exhibition entitled “A very short distance from the sun”, in which sculptural forms, paintings on canvas and photographs are found, and tries to explore her visions and concepts about the characteristics of nature. of women, stories and different dimensions such as wild human nature and recipes Wild animals that are difficult to tame, while the artist Hashel Al Lamki presents sculptural works and canvases titled “Neptune”, which take its viewers on a journey to explore the worlds of nature, reality and imagination, with the aim of showing the idea of ​​the scarcity of natural resources and the impact of such challenges on the human psyche.
The work of Horizons: Emerging Artists will be exhibited at the Palazzo Cavalli Francetti in Venice until May 22, 2022.
